Aaron “Godson” Hernandez has been a hip-hop artist in the Northwest Territories for over 16 years. It all started from a class project at the age of 14. Since then, he has released 10 albums (4 with a group & 6 solo) & has performed in various parts of North America. Godson was the only rapper ever to write for the show Canadian Idol, where he also performed & filmed a video that kicked off Season 4. Godson also performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics as part of the NWT contingent with a huge performance at BC Place as part of the medal ceremonies. Godson has 2 TV commercials that have aired for Drinking & Driving prevention for the Department of Transportation for the NWT on CBC & APTN. He has performed songwriting workshops in various parts of Canada which include BC, Yukon, NWT, Nunavut & even as far as Newfoundland. His latest video & CD features an appearance & collaboration with J-Roc of The Trailer Park Boys (Jonathan Torrens), which has had much internet success on YouTube. Godson can accommodate to any audience. Having no profanity in any of the songs he performs makes it easier to entertain from young children even to the elders. All performances are filled with energy & encouragement from the crowd to take part in some songs by dancing or chanting along on various tracks. In an effort to become a better artists, he entered The Yellowknife’s Biggest Loser Challenge & came in 1st place by dropping 54 lbs in 6 weeks. Godson has been chosen to pitch in front of the Dragons for the show Dragon's Den. Look out for an appearance on Ice Pilots season 3.
